Subject: [PATCH] Install libraries with executable bit set
Date: Tue, 12 Aug 2014 16:51:22 +0200
To: bind9-bugs@isc.org
From: Tomas Hozza <thozza@redhat.com>
Hello. When building RPMs for BIND, the rpm generates automatically "requires" and "provides" for the package, to be able to solve dependencies. In Fedora and RHEL we ship BIND libraries in a separate package (to be able to reuse it with ISC DHCP). RPM generates the "provides" for the package shipping libraries only if libraries are executable in the buildroot. Currently libraries are installed as DATA and therefore not executable when installed. We have a downstream patch in Fedora and RHEL that makes libraries to be installed as PROGRAM, and therefore executable. I think it would be beneficial to merge the patch into the BIND's repo. Thank you. Regards, -- Tomas Hozza Software Engineer - EMEA ENG Developer Experience PGP: 1D9F3C2D Red Hat Inc. http://cz.redhat.com
