Subject: dig libidn2 support
From: "Petr Menšík" <pemensik@redhat.com>
To: bind-suggest@isc.org
Hello, I have rewritten libidn support from ISC-Bugs #36101. I did sent new patches that time but have not noticed patches were not included, because I am not original bug author. I modified it again, this time also removing libidn. I know it was never accepted in BIND. Still I send all three patches. First two add support for libidn and libidn2. Third is optional and removes again libidn support. We do not require libidn support anymore if libidn2 would be supported. It handles IDN 2008 and IDN 2003 in transitional mode. Non-squashed commits are available at https://github.com/pemensik/bind9/tree/feature/dig-idn2 Would such patch be acceptable? > Would such patch be acceptable? This has been on the back burner for too long a time, thank you for bringing it back to my attention. Right now we're preparing to release 9.12.0, so there will be some delay before this can be considered, but I'll review the patch when I'm less distracted.

Petr, I'm not sure what happened, but this github link has stopped working. I do have patches that you attached to this ticket, though. Can you confirm they're the complete set?

Hi Evan, I am sorry, I switched the repo to official clone from ISC. I forgot to push again feature branches back. They are back again. Sent patches are exact copy, just more commits are squashed into one feature change. Repository has more separate commits to illustrate how it was made. Final diff is exactly the same as the patches sent in the ticket.
